BURN RUBBER
Forty-five years, four hundred woodcuts — one artist's love letter to the PacificNorthwest.
Woodcut is a traditional relief printing technique where an artist carves an image into the surface of a block of wood. Each color layer is then applied with a separate block.

Burn Rubber highlights Lockwood Dennis’ keen eye for the iconic shape of the 1930s and 40s motor vehicle. Dennis looked to express humor and beauty within the form and function of everyday life. By placing these classic beauties in nostalgic Seattle scenes, he invites viewers to slow down in a world that is constantly speeding up.
