Sean Caulfield (Canadian, b. 1967) was born in 1967 in Rhode Island and grew up in Sherwood Park, Alberta. He received an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Alberta. Caulfield has taught as a visiting artist throughout the United States and Canada and is currently a Professor at the University of Alberta. Caulfield is known for his prints, installations, and other media practices dealing with the technological, mechanical, and biological elements of our built and natural environment. His work reflects his multifaceted approach to his practice including references from industrial landscapes of the midwestern US, antique Asian and European artworks, contemporary pop culture, and various literary and musical sources.
