Tetsuo Aoki was born in 1940 in Fujieda, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan and currently lives and works in Fujieda. In 1964 he earned his BFA from Shizuoka University, Shizuoka, Japan. He is a member of Kokugakai, an arts society founded around the ideas of “free creation” and celebrating individual styles across generations. Aoki describes the theme of his artwork as “to express the pleasure, the deepness and the importance of touching each other. The original world of woodblock with Japanese paper (Washi) and Chinese ink (Sumi) is my basis.” His work has been featured in exhibitions and collections in Japan, Australia, Israel, China, the United States, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic.
